Question:

Two roborovski hamsters?

I am planning on getting two Roborovski dwarf hamsters sometime soon. I don't know much about Roborovskis and I need experienced advice before I get them. I have 4 Campbell's Russians and a Chinese right now.

1. Should I get two males or two females?

2. Will they fight in the same cage?

3. How many wheels, food bowls, and water bottles will I need?

4. How friendly are they in comparison to Campbell's Russian hamsters, Winter Whites, and Chinese Dwarfs?

5. If I am 12, would I be able to take care of them?

6. How often do they bite? How hard? Will it break the skin?

7. If you have Roborovskis, will you recommend them to others?

8. Will one get jealous when the other comes out to play?

9. What cage should I get? Plastic? Barred? Aquarium?

10. What fruits and veggies can you feed them?

If you can answer all, or most of these questions, I'll be very appreciative.

Thanks!

  1. 1. try to get one, but if you want to get two females

    2. they might so you have to keep a close eye on them and have a seperate cage handy so u can seperate them if they get hurt

    3. two small/med wheels or one biggish one. one medium food bowl, and one water bottle. you can get two if you have a big (like connected cages big) cage

    4. campbells and winter whites are almost the same. robos r fast and if this is your first hamster i would get a campbell or ww because theyre easier to handel. chinese are aggressive and territorial i wouldnt reccomend them to first timers.

    5. hey i started out when i was 9 without the help of my parents. have faith in urself. be responsible

    6. they will bite when they are scared, startled, or stressed. usually hamsters dont draw blood unless they r truelly petrified (like a snake was approaching). a soft non breaking bite means back off. a hard to breaking bite means stay away, dont get near.

    7. I reccomend robos because they are cute and easy to take care of. they are less work when they live in pairs because they have eachother to keep company

    8. possibly. probably not if the other is sleeping or doing his own thing or playing by himself. if you think the other will get jelous, spend equal time with them

    9. no aquarium because they are hard to clean and its not that good ventalation. plastic is good if it has ventalation and a hamsters cant chew threw it. not all barred unless you want broken limbs and constant gnawing at night. plastic and barred is a good choice. if you get crittertrail, connect two toghether because they are to small for robos. robos 9esspacailly in pairs) need more room then a single syrian.

    10. either. cut down on the fruits though. if u get a campbell keep in mind they are diabetic. no citrus or seeds. no iceberg lettuce. google search it because i cant write everything down ( i have a broken arm haha i cant believe ive typed this much so far)

Good luck, if you need more help email me

  2. 1. Start off with 1 Robo hamster.

    2. Possibly.

    3. Just one.

    4. I only had Robo's so far

    5. It depends really my sister has a Robo and she's 6 years old. She takes good care of it too.

    6. Mine rarely bites, she bites whenever I finish eating because I forget to wash my hands before touching her. It feels like a pinch IMO but they can dig into the skin though.

    7. For adults & teens yes. Kids no because they're small and fast. If one gets loose your in trouble.

    8. When they get older yes.

    9. Barred or Aquarium. Plastic is a big no.

    10.Carrots, corn, apples.
