Here is my assignment:
After reading the book, write a formal essay on the following topic. The essay should be 4 - 5 paragraphs and should include support evidence for your thesis and topic sentences.
Topic: Throughout the book, Scout and Jem learn many lessons. Please write a well developed essay discussing two to three of the most important lessons that Scout, Jem or both learn.
So far I've figured that Jem realizing that Boo Radley doesn't want to come out is probably one of them. But I really am unsure of how to phrase any of the others, that and which are the most important.
I can probably figure that out on my own if I have to. But what I really need help with is what the teacher wants when she says "formal essay" and "well developed essay". This is a summer project so I really am unsure of what the teacher wants.
