  1. work out your calves. that's the only way you can jump higher. pick a spot on the wall that's high and jump with your arm extended above you, while trying to reach that spot. do it everyday and you'll see you will start to jump higher. don't forget to stretch before!

serving overhand was a challenge for me when i first started playing. im on the short side, so i dont really have much upper body strength and i was kind of lazy on working out my arms. i wound up having to try a handful of different techniques before i found one that finally just worked. serving overhand takes a lot of practice and patient, so if you can't do that, don't give up!

  2. hi, i played volleyball all through out high school and was and still am a bit on the short side... from experience i think that the best way to get a higher jump is to really condition your legs in order to strengthen them... you can do this by doing squats, lunges, and you can go to a park and squat, place your arms in front of you and on the gate and jump up and then come back down in a squat... yes over hand serving is hard at the beginning because you have to have either a certain strength or a certain technique but with some practice it gets easier and more controlled... practice and conditioning is key

  3. Overhand serving takes some getting used to. But once you get it you will never go back. Overhand serving can be much harder for the other team to pass. As for jumping higher. I myself am pretty tall, but most volleyball players work on thier vertical and i have coached alot. I suggest bleachers. Find some bleachers or sets of stairs you can run on. Try and do all you exercises in intervals, going really hard and then taking a break. It is better to work your leg muscles really hard in intervals to increase your vertical, than to work them easier for a longer period. Do exercises quickly up the stairs and walk down for example. When running stairs, try jumping quickly up on two feet(like a bunny), jumping single footed(only on your right for a set then only on your left) Also try box jumps. Find a solid box or solid chair. Step up onto it. Then jump down and back up ASAP. Spend as little time as you can on the ground. Start with a smaller box and work your way up. Those exercises should get you started. Be careful. Hopw that helps

  4. Hey! Its great that you're doing volleyball! I played for 5 years..it was great! Over-hand serving was pretty tough for me..but I came to realize that practice makes perfect. Try hitting it over your fence or something??? Also..with the jumping/blocking...find a wall in your house or gym. Then find a spot on the wall which is taller than you (maybe put a piece of tape up so you can see it?). Then practice jumping with you knees and touching the line. Do that for about 10 minuets each day and raise the line each time. That should help you! Good Luck!
