The high paced point guard remains adamant that the Los Angeles Lakers and Oklahoma City Thunder are scared from what the Denver Nuggets can do.

The Denver Nuggets exceeded many people’s expectations when they took the Los Angeles Lakers to seven games in the first round of the playoffs last season. To the Nuggets it was just a step taken on the right path on becoming a
genuine playoff contending team.
The hard work which George Karl had put in reflected in the flamboyant game style his Nuggets brought to their games last season. But the one-thing which the Nuggets lacked was the presence of a true leader on the court and Karl
clearly wants Lawson to fill that role. Karl continuously brought the leadership question to Lawson’s mind throughout the off-season and finally it seems to be working out as the point guard arrived at the Media Day on Monday by declaring the Nuggets as the
top team in the Western Conference.
'We're so deep, so talented, so versatile,'' said Lawson,. ''You can't just game plan for one person on this team. I think we'll be No. 1 in the West.''
Lawson is not at all worried about what the Thunder or the Lakers have been doing. But instead his focus is on the Nuggets as he remained adamant that Denver is going to be the team to beat.
'I'm 100 percent sure of it,'' Lawson said. ''I know the Thunder is; the Lakers, too. We took them to Game 7 and they upgraded a couple of positions, but I think they're still definitely afraid of the Nuggets.''
To be confident is one thing, under estimating your opponents is another. Sure, the Nuggets added a premier All-star in form of Andre Iguodala over the summer but as things go, they lost Al Harrington and Arron Afflalo – two of
their key contributors from the bench, in the trade. They are still a force to reckon with, but their aim at the moment should be qualifying handsomely for the playoffs. If they continue to develop, further success will come in due time.
