Ty Wigginton shines as Colorado Rockies defeat Cleveland Indians 3-1 – MLB Update
Ty Wigginton put in a tremendous performance as the Colorado Rockies defeated Cleveland Indians 3-1 at Salt River Fields in Arizona on March 6.
The Rockies marked Wigginton for his potential as much as his flexibility before the spring training season.
Wigginton made home-run and a double while Jason Hammel pitched three firm innings and the Rockies hammered the Indians with a 3-1 win. Ryan Spilborghs also made a run for the Rockies with a single RBI and he was 3 at-bats.
Hammel, who participated with Wigginton in Tampa Bay, will surely be grateful for playing against the Indians. Hammel further added that, "It's great to add another bat to the lineup. We've added some good players. I played with him in Tampa and he did pretty
well there, too."
Jason permitted a run on five strikes. He did not walk a hitter, though he did go to a full reckon many times. He had got an appealing job with runners on base but he was getting behind batters. It was not a bad tour but the timing was not right in the mind
of Hammel.
Rockies’ manager Jim Tracy stated after the game, "You put the guy between the lines and it's a game. It might be a spring training game but he competes and that's why he is so revered in the industry. He has energy to get high rank. It's just a great thing
to add to the dugout."
Third base legend Lonnie Chisenhall struck a homer and singled for the Indians. Adam Everett and Jack Hannahan each made a couple of hits.
According to the Indians’ manager Manny Acta, Buck and Chisenhall hit the fastball on the edge but it was a pleasant game in general. Acta have better feelings for his breaking ball, as the bend is remarkable and it has a stiff alternation but he is able
to control it.
Indians’ starter Justin Masterson allowed one ERA and two strikes in three innings. Masterson has battled with steadiness in his release and he persists to work to find his calm zone.
Masterson supposed that the big thing is replicating his delivery. He wants to be clever to get to a point where he was going to pitch a convinced throw.
Cleveland's top draft choice for 2010, Drew Pomeranz, pitched two scoreless innings in his second emergence. He has four hit outs in three innings and has yet to give up another one.
Indians’ short-stop Jason Donald, who missed the game after receiving a hit throw on March 5, went through a complete practice session without difficulty.
It will be interesting to see how the Rockies manage to carry their winning momentum into their next match-up of the spring session.
