Ty Wigginton signs with St. Louis Cardinals – MLB Update
The St. Louis Cardinals have continued their offseason initiative to add some more fire power in the roster by adding another experienced Major League professional. The Cardinals signed Ty Wigginton to a two-year deal and tried to make sure that he will
be providing them with best offensive prowess.
Wigginton last played for the Philadelphia Phillies and signed with the Cardinals after filing for free agency in this offseason.
"I think just the way they play the game, first and foremost, made this an appealing fit for me, I'm excited for it. Early in my career, I didn't want to have that type of role, obviously, and I don't think I could have done well in that kind of role.” Wigginton
said on his signing with the Cardinals.
“I was looking for an opportunity to win. I look at my role as being able to help the team win anyway I can," Wigginton added as he waited to board a flight back to his offseason home in North Carolina.
Former Phillies’ ace Wigginton will earn $2.5 million along with winning bonuses in 2013 Major League Baseball season. He recently visited the Cardinals club house and made his mind to play for them for next two years.
The Cardinals have also signed him after looking deep into his past year’s performance along with his past ten seasons’ performance.  Last year, playing with the Philadelphia Phillies, Wigginton went with .235 at hitting along with eleven homers, 43 RBIs
and .314 OBP.
His career hitting average of .263 along with 169 home runs, 591 RBIs and .324 OBP also makes him a good role player in the league. Along with a good career hitting average, Wigginton has also large experience with different teams in the Major League.
Since his arrival in MLB, Wigginton has played for several teams including New York Mets, Pittsburgh Pirates, Tampa Bay Rays, Houston Astros, Baltimore Orioles, Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies.
Now with another team, Ty Wigginton will start a new beginning which might also help the St. Louis Cardinals grow stronger in the coming Major League Baseball seasons.
