She is 29 mentally, physically & medically handicapped. Needs 24/7 care. Want to add mother in law type suite so she can continue to live at home with family but have a carer. We live in southern Louisiana. We would be willing to do some of the work ourselves if materials could be donated. Please send any suggestions to: brettessex@aol.com

  1. You can search these websites -

    http://www.cfda.gov

    http://www.grants.gov

    http://gtionline.fdncenter.org

    http://www.powerhomebiz.com/vol66/grants...

I went to the Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance and searched on "disabled" and found that the federal government had awarded a large sum to the state of Louisiana for programs to support Independent Living  this year.

I followed the trail to the Louisiana state DSS website, but none of the programs they fund include home construction or renovation.

  2. If you go to your local library and ask them for the books on grants, they will help you find them.  Then you read until you find the one you are looking for.  There are tons of grants and you have to do the leg work and paper work to get it.  It doesn't magically appear at your door step.
