I have a 11 year old stepdaughter who is always asking for Tylenol and I know something is up but cant figure out what it is. Are kids using Tylenol for something else other than headaches? Any help would be great!

  1. Kids think that even if they have slight pain, they need Tylenol to fix it.  I used to do that when I was a kid, It made me feel like a grown up, but now I know that too much is bad for you liver and you should only take it when you really need it

  2. Ask her.

    TALK TO HER!!!

What if it's something like a brain tumor and it turns out that handing her pills made it worse?

What if she is saving up for an overdose?  All you need to do is SPEAK!!! to maybe save her life.

  3. First off, using tylenol frequently can cause health concerns, including the liver.

Yes, it can be mixed with other drugs for "recreational drug use". As well, (and this is not to scare you) but she could be storing them for an overdose. This has happened before.

You need to tell her to try other methods for pain relief ( headache- cool cloth on forehead and a light snack), hot water bottle for pain in other areas of her body (unless there is swelling, then ice pack).

Trust your instincts if you feel something is up. We parents 'know' when something is up and we are not wrong in that detection. So lock up any medications you have, tell her no and plan a visit to the doctor regarding this.

    Good luck!
