Tyler Clippard is comfortable after throwing three consecutive games for Washington Nationals-MLB

Against what the Washington Nationals’ manager Davey Johnson planned before the regular season, Tyler Clippard threw in three games in a row. Fortunately, his arms are comfortable and there is no strain being felt at the moment.
He is prone to strain as and when he throws greater number of innings. For the same reason, right throughout the season, the manager has used him sparingly to make sure no unnecessary injury afflicts his body.
However, when the Nationals’ bullpen emptied due to injuries to the relievers like Drew Storen and Henry Rodriguez, the manager was compelled to use Clippard excessively.
Clippard has not disappointed the club. At the time of sheer need he has helped the Nationals record wins from pressure-cooker situations in the last week or so. With main relievers out, for a moment, he nullified the impact which was to come at the detriment
of the Nationals’ performance in the season.
Taking about his save in the last-game in a crucial situation, he spoke of the control and command he exhibited. Further, he discussed the role of the Boston Red Sox manager and how the delay in the game he caused helped him re-grasp proceedings and come
out better as a result.
“If anything, I think he froze his own guy more than me or our team,” Clippard said. “We had the upper hand in that situation. So if you’re going to delay the game or anything, you’re taking your own guy out of rhythm, which maybe he did a little bit. It
was a good pitch, I thought. It was right on the black. You’ve kind of got to let the game play out. But it was what it was.”
Clippard however admits that his vulnerability is still there. Despite being okay at the moment, he asserts the need to show care and caution in the upcoming days.
To avoid his injury, the Nationals will desperately be looking to get their injured relievers back. As this will alleviate burden on the bullpen and will open more options for the manager, overall efficiency will increase.
Meanwhile, Clippard will love to continue the way he is going in the season and keep helping the side during penultimate moments of the game.
