Tyler Farrar is hopeful for Team Garmin-Barracuda’s success at the Paris-Roubaix 2012
Tyler Farrar is confident that his side, Team Garmin-Barracuda, will seal the deal on the coming World Tour event, Paris-Roubaix 2012.
The cyclist briefed that his team-mate Johan Vansummeren will do the honours for the side.
Johan secured an overall victory during the past season of the victory and is determined to enter the record books by securing his second consecutive win at the race.
Farrar himself is a strong contender for the race in April and is desperately in need of a victory. The only win he has secured in the 2012 season came during the Tour of Qatar.
Tyler claimed the second stage of the race but fell short of an overall victory.
Tom Boonen of Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step claimed the overall classifications with Farrar finishing 28 seconds behind to achieve the second overall spot at the Tour of Qatar 2012.
Tyler rode brilliantly during the 10th edition of the Scheldeprijs in Schoten, Belgium, but was denied the victory, this time by Marcel Kittel.
The German finished the race in a fastest time of 4 hours, 30 minutes and 52 seconds with Tyler Farrar and Theo Bos at the second and the third positions.
While commenting on the 2012 version of the Paris-Nice, Farrar told Cyclingnews, "Our whole objective is to try and win Roubaix and Summie is our guy for that".
"We do have a few other riders and if something happens in the race, we do have some back-ups, but we're starting the race all for one and that's Johan," he concluded.
He further added, "I think he's really fit. He's looked really good and he's been really good on the races".
“Roubaix is a special race, and you need to have the legs and a bit of luck, but with the way Johan has been riding the last couple of weeks,” he concluded.
Tyler admitted the supreme form of Tom Boonen and the strength of new side, Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step.
Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step is definitely amongst the strongest sides in the peloton and overcoming the inform Boonen will take a lot of team work.
