Tyler Goodjohn: I have worked extremely hard for the bout with Danny Connor – Boxing News
Tyler Goodjohn, the surging young Briton, is heartfelt at the decision of his last bout and commented that there is no point at all in brawling when you get a highly unanticipated decision adding that he strived too hard and even the spectators knew that
he has nailed Danny Connor.
Tyler and Danny met on May 20, 2012 at the ring set up at York Hall arena situated in Bethnal Green, London, United Kingdom to constitute the sequel of their March 2011 bout. The duo headlined the pay-per-view and had the vacant British Masters welterweight
title up for grabs.
The event was promoted by Miranda Carter of Left Jab Promotions and the night was co-headlined by the non-title six-round clash between Menay Edwards and Remigijus Ziausys.
During a recent media interaction, Tyler revealed that he underwent a strenuous training and sparring session just to prove the fact that he is better than Danny. The 21-year-old Briton added that he even received an injury to his ribs three weeks before
the bout but still decided to go for the bout.
Tyler and Danny collided for a 10-round showdown. Tyler, also known as the ‘Tornado’, was entering in his sixth bout and boasted six wins and just two losses. The young Cambridgeshire lad has also grabbed one knockout win.
This was the second time that Danny and Tyler were meeting in the ring. In their first encounter, Tyler emerged victorious by collecting a point-based decision. Danny, 25, was entering in his 12th bout and was determined to avenge his prior loss to Tyler.
Also known as the ‘Cassius’, Danny has a tarnished resume as compared to Tyler and has collected just five wins. In addition, Danny has never knocked out any of his opponents and has even received five losses.
All these factors clearly showed that Tyler will again rise up at the occasion just like he did in 2011 but somehow things did not go well especially in the judge’s corner. After the 10-round showdown, the judges awarded the bout to Danny with 96-95 score.
The loss in fact a controversial flawed loss has seriously de-motivated Tyler who stated, “I haven’t gone out or done anything since New Year’s Day and I’ve just put my life on hold training for this. I’ve gone through h**l for this fight, all my family
and friends know that. But when you get a decision like that you just ask yourself what’s the point.”
The stressed Tyler remarked, “If I knew I’d been beaten or even if it had been close, I couldn’t have complained about it, but I’m just shocked. If I hadn’t come forward and come to fight, we’d have just been stood there for 10 rounds.”
At the moment no comments have been put forth either by the bout judges or by the Danny camp but the matter should be considered since the points allocation even shows how close the bout was.
