Tyler Palko unmoved by Kyle Orton’s acquisition – NFL News
The acquisition of Kyle Orton by the Kansas City Chiefs has Tyler Palko hardly raising an eyebrow. Palko appears unmoved by the latest development. Kansas City Coach Todd Haley broke the news of acquiring Orton when Palko was on
the practice field on Wednesday. Palko said that the only thing he was aware was that Orton had been inducted into the team but did not know what the move meant for the future of the team and Sunday night’s game against the Steelers.
"He didn't tell me either way. He just said that we're full speed ahead for Pittsburgh" Palko said referring to Coach Haley.
Orton was acquired by the Chiefs on waivers this Wednesday. Two other teams, the Chicago Bears and Dallas Cowboys had filed claims for Orton but in the end the Chiefs managed to get hold of Orton. Orton had been released just a
day before by the Broncos and will now serve the Chiefs for the remainder of the season.
Coach Haley seemed excited at Orton’s inclusion. The Coach said we always wanted to increase competition in the team and Orton’s arrival was just about that. However the Coach stopped short of announcing as to whether Orton would
be included in Sunday’s game or not.
The Chiefs had lost their quarterback Matt Cassel to a hand injury in week 10. The incident happened while the Chiefs played against the Broncos and required a hand surgery after which Cassel had to be put out for the rest of the
season. Initially Palko had stepped in as a replacement but now with Orton’s arrival, his status is unclear as to who would start the Sunday’s game.
However, no concern was shown by Palko in this regard.
"You've got to understand something. I've been the practice squad quarterback, I've been the number three, I've been the number two, and the starter last week," Palko said.
Palko further added that despite the fact whether he was just in the practice squad or at number three, two or one, he always prepared with the same determination, giving the same time and effort and he would keep it that way in
future.
