Tyler Seguin shows his worth to Boston Bruins by scoring 4 points in Game 2 against Tampa Bay Lightning
Tyler Seguin was not included in the playoffs for a significant number of games by the Boston Bruins and had to wait till Game 2 against Tampa Bay Lightning on Tuesday, 17th
May, before he got a chance to prove himself an asset for the team by scoring two goals and assisting two.
Even though Bruins’ coach, Claude Julien, was reluctant to include him in the lineup, Seguin has tremendous potential since he was the number-two pick in the 2010 National Hockey League Draft pick.
He couldn’t meet the level of performance expected of him since he was able to score only 22 points during the course of the regulation season.
However, when Patrice Bergeron went out due to an injury, it created space and there had to be someone really good who could take the responsibility. Even though the coach didn’t want Seguin to be in the team due to his lack of experience at the moment,
he was included in the team.
The results this teenager has produced are not extraordinary but the way he handles the pressure is an amazing sight.
He has played in six periods in the playoffs so far and scored three goals while providing three assists, a phenomenal record. Among this record, two goals and two assists came on Tuesday night in the crucial second game of the Eastern Conference Finals.
He played a great role in the team’s 6-5 victory and one of his assist in the dying seconds of the second period led to Michael Ryder scoring the winning goal of the game.
"Yeah he was extremely good tonight, there's no doubt about that, one of our best players out there", Julien said. "And he used his speed very well tonight. He challenged their D with it, did a great job. And it was nice to see him respond that way. He's
competed extremely well and he's been an excited individual waiting for his opportunity, and he's certainly making the best of it".
Although he was one of the premier players in the Ontario Hockey League last year, scoring 106 points, he wasn’t given much time on ice.
However, his second game in the playoffs is evident of his potential and witnessed his name being chanted all around TD Garden, the party continuing after the game ended with the Bruins winning and tying the series on 1-1.
