I have an AST Ascentia J Series Laptop w/Windows 95 (don't laugh!). Cablevision (optonline) could not connect their modem to my laptop, so the "triple freedom" installation was incomplete -- yet they are billing me for service they could/did not provide. My User Manual indicates that a Type II PC Card would connect to a modem, but Jason, owner of Super computers in Selden, NY, said that his/today's PC Cards are not compatible w/Windows 95. The end of the modem wire looks like a phone wire that you pinch into a phone jack, except that the end plastic "pincher" on the modem wire is much larger.
Where can I get a PC Card that will work -- or is there another solution, until I get a new computer? Please reply. Thanks. gmc
