Type of hamster ?

my hamster is light brown and i know he is not a dwarf hamster , russian or chinese . any ideas on what he might be ?

If he's not a dwarf than he is a syrian.

He has to be a syrian if you are sure he isn't dwarf or chinese. Try looking on hamsterific.com and comparing him to some of their pictures.

There are 5 types of hamsters available as pets.

The four dwarf species - Chinese, Winter White, Campbells, and Robovorski (several of the dwarf varoeties are mistakeningly labled as "Russian")

Then there's the full size Syrian hamster.

If you don't have a dwarf species, then you have a "Syrian".

You'll probably be able to figure out the name of which color Syrian you have from these. Without seeing your hamster, I'm thinking you may have a "cream" or a "yellow".

If he was long hair it could be a teddy bear.

If you really MUST know then take it to the vet because you're going to get mixed answers here. In my opinion it's definitely a syrian.
