Type position keeps shifting

Question

when i am typing on my new laptop the cursor frequently shifts to the beginning of the line or the middle of the line or paragraph and begins to type at this location instead of at the end of the line or paragraph .this happens in word processing program and internet search screens, forms etc.

is there some problem with my keyboard or cursor or is this inherent in laptops.
