Our research involves extraction of the banana's leaf and stem juice. However, the extract contains plenty of water and we need to purify it by any means.

  2. For nearly all articles dealing with extraction of banana leaves or stem juice you have to sign in.

    Therefore I did not find a purification method or a way to isolate the contents.

    It should be the best way to use column chromatography.

    To find the best solvent, test it with TLC.

    To remove the water only this publication explains:

    The extracted juice was filtered and concentrated in rotavapour under reduced pressure. The concentrated juice was finally lyophilized to get a powder (yield 12.8% w/w)

    This one is rather inprecise:

    The banana stems were dried in the sun for 15 days. Small pieces ( 5-7 cm in length) of dried mass were pyrolysed in the furnace at the rate of 20°C/hr. The chars obtained were grounded and were given different activation treatments.
