I know there are exclusive(captive) agent and independent agent. Is there any other type or kind of insurance agent?

  1. Some agents are completely captive, others are semi-captive (This can include different arrangements where the agent must give their primary company first shot, other arrangements only require a certain amount of production per year, or the agent must write their primary company unless they do not offer a specific product.), and then their are independent agents.  Independent agents are technically called "brokers", but these terms are used interchangeably.

  2. That's pretty much the only ones as far as that question goes.  You can be captive (selling for one brand/company) or a broker (selling for multiple companies)
