Question:

Types of bunnies....

Hey everyone :)

I'm thinking of getting a bunny for my three kids. Just wondering what breed would be most suitable. My kids are 5yo 8yo and 10yo. They are all great with animals and very gentle.

We have had a bunny before, he was an indoor bunny and wonderful with my kids, very gentle and affectionate. We would love another one the same but he was an angora and the brushing everyday was hard so we wouldn't get another one of those.

So if anyone could tell us of another type that would have a similar personality that would be great. Or any other tips or advice?

Thanks :)

  1. Ooh i love bunnies!

Here's a website that could help.

Be sure to look through the whole thing

It lists many of them :)

  2. Find a rescue or shelter and go by personality:

  3. definitely a netherland dwarf:)

they have shorter hair, require less space, small enough for kids to carry and generally easier to care (less food, less brushing) for while still gentle and friendly. They weigh 3-5 pounds with an average lifespan of 7 years, yet they never seem to appear older or less cute because of their dwarfism.

Also remember to spay/neuter the rabbit when it gets to age, because it'll settle them down and also prevent diseases.

  4. i've got a 'mongrel' rabbit- shes part lop and part harlequin.  she weighs about 10 lb's and is great with my 4yr old brother, so i think a lop would be a good one!

dont get a mini lop tho, as being and indoor rabbit, she'll get into the most tiny hiding places!!

  5. holland lop rabbits are the most domesticated rabbit so most the time they r gentle and cuddly : )
