  1. violence of any kind will stop when women stop thinking about getting rid of men.

  2. We women are not the only creatures living in this planet.

Think of others first; from there crimes against us will stop, and or come quite close to it..

  3. "Why do so many people here (women) ask questions that have absolutely nothing to do with them personally? Usually just topics they've heard about on tv or saw a popular movie or documentary about or read in a book.

You ladies bring these ridiculous topics up in order to paint a disproportionately negative picture of men. Every question is about domestic violence or deadbeat dads, or murderers or rape or men asking for s*x on the street or child pornography or public acts of sexism by men or s**t films-- all kinds of ridiculous movie of the week nonsense. What the h**l experience do any of you here have with these situations?"

Gee Bjpennu - why on earth would women talk about domestic violence, deadbeat dads, murder, rape, child pornography HERE of all places?

Could it have something to do with discussing gender issues? Would you prefer it if women talked about the impact of economic rationalism on llamas, instead of issues relating to women and gender perhaps?

In answer to your question - All types of violence including and not limited to: forced prostitution and slavery (which is happening to thousands of women globally), honour killings, ongoing ridicule, assault, rape by husbands, boyfriends, soldiers and strangers, female genital mutilation, beatings by bosses in sweat shops, etc etc etc

Edit: I noticed that you didn't answer the question, but instead criticised me for having responded. I answered the question immediately after I sent the first answer. But really, what difference does it make? Who cares when I answered it. You didn't even make an attempt.

Re: sweat shops - I'm a member of an organisation that advocates for people (predominantly women) who are often subjected to beatings by their employers. Google Oxfam. I'm sure you'll find many links there.

Re: FGM - I work in domestic violence, incest and rape. I've specifically worked for many years with migrant women who have experienced it. I also supported and escorted one of my clients to hospital who needed surgery, as a direct result of the mutilation.

Again, how is first hand experience  relevant to your argument. As stated, I have been a close observer to many of the "issues" that I discussed.

I suggest you stop trivialising violence against women by comparing it to articles in glossy magazines or in Hollywood productions. It merely reflects what an insensitive and ignorant tosser you are.

  4. The same type as violence against men.

  5. All of them.

  6. She hits her man, police come, charge him with domestic violence, he go to jail. That type of violence against women should stop.  How cruel and unfair is it to take away from women the man in their life they so enjoy abusing.

  7. well all u dare feminists argue that you want to be equal to men, but your not cuz if i got into an arguement with a man and i punched him and we get into a fight then it wouldnt be to much trouble, but if it was a girl and i punched them everyones like "ohh dont you know you cant hit women"

  8. Eoghan has nailed the issue.

Focusing on one type of violence leads to further discrimination.  Trust me, the resources out in western society that are directed to helping battered women are much greater, per head, than those directed at helping men.  Same goes for both health and education.

While I have no issue with your question in some ways, I cannot respond in a way that you might see as appropriate.  As a victim of violence from my ex-wife, I find it hard to hear men constantly demonised as violent, yet I was the one arrested when my wife fractured my skull.  I went into a coma during an interrogation.  Despite evidence, witnesses, and supposedly fair laws, I was automatically the offender.  I eventually won, but only because I got a really good lawyer and sued several police officers.

Focusing only on violence against women is only part of the story, and this is where the issue arises: men like me will never advocate DV laws that favour women and ignore DV directed at us.  You might see it as clear cut, but it is not that simple.

I do agree with Sam that women have every right to discuss the issue on here, in spite of what I have said above.  It is the actions and laws in society that I question, as well as the potential casting away of many true victims of DV

  9. We will never wipe out violence, I tend to think of victims of violence as people, men women and children, its counterproductive to focus on just one group, you can see how feminists derailed the Domestic Violence movement in the 1970s and turned it into a political tool leaving the young and the male victims to fall through the cracks.

  10. Honour killings, bride burnings, female genital mutilation, rape as a weapon of war, domestic violence etc. etc. It's not likely they're going to be stopped anytime soon though.

lol at bjpennu - why shouldn't violence against women be discussed in a Gender and Women's Studies section? If you don't like it go elsewhere. Many of the women posting here, including myself, DO have first hand experience of male violence. Why the h**l shouldn't we discuss it? And why shouldn't we discuss it even if we don't have experience of it? Should people refrain from giving opinions on things they haven't experienced? Should people stop discussing children starving in Africa because none of us have experienced starvation? I'm sorry if it hurts your male pride but denying the existence of male > female violence really just makes you sound a little naive.

  11. I am from Bangladesh.

there are a social problem in our country that is some women were tourchered physically by their husband at home. our government passed a law against the home tourcher because it's a violence against the women.

  12. What violence...? A man can go to jail if he so much even bumps her to the wall in thier own home. I've seen it happen, he barley even pushed her to the wall and he got arrested. Most women are protected in the U.S...any woman who says so otherwise is stupid.

  13. Why do so many people here (women) ask questions that have absolutely nothing to do with them personally? Usually just topics they've heard about on tv or saw a popular movie or documentary about or read in a book.

You ladies bring these ridiculous topics up in order to paint a disproportionately negative picture of men. - Edit

No pookie, I'd rather they talk about issues they actually have some vague personal experience in rather than shock news stories and wildly rare statistics as their only source to bring any argument to the forums here-- as they obvioulsy shown us they have nothing relevant to their personal lives of which they can garner an opinion or argument.

    - btw pookie, even thru all that hooplah you notice there were no answers submitted by women on this topic... - and you only came to critique my answer (then a few mins past the hr mark finally became the 1st women to answer the question).

Cmon mama- " beatings by bosses in sweatshops".. " female mutilations" .. ?  What the h**l do you know about female mutilations? Why don't you answer the question with something you've experiencedat least in the 3rd person! You're talking about stuff you saw on National Geographic or 60 minutes! Talk about something relative to us people on the forum today.  (since you ladies on here always feel so compelled to condemn men- why not at least talk about something you have some remote connection or knowledge of?)

  14. none women need discipline

  15. seriously, I hope no violence against women, you know that is the gift god present to man.
