Question:

Typical Funeral?

By typical funeral, I'm referring to the whole, embalming fluid, pallbearer, procession sort of thing. I was wondering... would the weight of a corpse be less filled with embalming fluid, its usual fillings, or a mixture of embalming fluid and whatever's left inside after organ donation's been carried out?

  1. Organ donation is NOT standard practice.  Most people are not organ donors, therefore their organs are not removed during the embalming process, as many people think.  The body is left completely intact during the embalming process.  As for the changes in weight, I would assume that it would not change but for a few ounces.  The blood is replaced with embalming fluid, and the organs are not removed, so it wouldn't really change the weight of the body at all.
