Question:

Typical Seasonal Hiring Months at Best Buy?

I'm looking to get a job as a seasonal employee at Best Buy in Alberta, Canada. The problem is, I don't really know when they would be hiring the seasonal employees.

Their website says it typically runs from October till December, but a friend of mine that works there says that they're doing it now.

There's two weeks of summer vacation left before school starts again and I'm bored out of my mind. I'd apply for part-time, but I'm sure they would be fully stocked for the summer.

I've previously worked as a Seasonal employee that got put into part-time after the Christmas holidays, but I resigned due to some school issues. I applied in mid-October that time, and I'm thinking it's too early to apply for seasonal right now.

So, again. Does anyone know when the typical seasonal hiring months are?

  1. Now, usually they like to hire for back to school rush then hours will be low for a month or two then the season run starting in nov.

  2. Typical seasonal times would be October until December as listed on their site, however, don't forget how many people will be applying at that time.

The best advice would be for you to join part-time much earlier so that you have a foot in the door. This will also allow you to get to know management which may lead to better shifts and promotions since you have been with the company longer than newer employees.

Even if you send in your resume now, and don't get a response - make sure to send it again in October as they tend to drown in resumes.

    Good Luck!
