Question:

Typical amount of time to get birth control out of system?

My husband and I have made the decision that I will go off my birth control. We are not going to be trying to get pregnant, but we will just be letting things happen naturally. My question is, is there a general consensus on how long it takes for a woman's system to stabilize after stopping BC? I'm a little nervous to become a mom, but still excited. I don't know how I'd take it if I wound up pregnant in the first month off a contraceptive. Just wondered if anyone had been in the same place before.

  1. I went off thinking i had at least 3 months before I would get pregnant.  you hear all these stories about people not being able to conceive, and my periods were so irregular they were even starting to be irregular on the pill.  Anyways, it took me 2 weeks!  I thought I wasn't ready for a baby and was upset because I had drank. I guess I just thought we would have  fun "trying" and have one last summer just the two of us.  We had never really agreed when I would go off birth control either. He kept saying it was up to me.

But now I'm 21 weeks and happy as can be that our little guy is coming. My husband is thrilled. I  thought for some reason my parents would think it was too soon, but they said they said they've been wondering when we would decide to have kids.  I already have two family members that offered to throw showers.  I guess I'm the only one that didn't think I was ready.
