i am moving to the bay area next may, and i wanted to find out some price estimations on housing in that area. i want to live as close to the city as possible so that i can commute on the BART. Are all the cities on the BART route usually the same price? what can i expect when i start looking at apartments? are they typically older grungy ones or nicer newer ones? if you can give me an average pricing for each city that could be great. (AND PLEASE DONT REFER ME TO CRAIGSLIST.)

THANKS!

  1. i recomend Woodland or Dixion nice people lots of apartments

  2. woodland and dixon are near sacramento. i would reccomend the east bay. it still close, however the places are a little more rough but its less expensive. My friend lives in downtown san jose in a tiny 2 bedroom duplex and she pays 600 for her bedroom aside from utlities. its really hard to make it and bart depends on how far you are away from the city. personally if i could afford to live in the bay area i would want to live in the city.

  3. You can buy in Fremont or Dublin for under 500k.

Apartments run about 2k a month.

You can live cheaper in Antioch, but it is pretty dangerous, there is a lot of violent gang activity.

The nicer places along BART, like Moraga and Layfayette run closer to 700-999k and up.
