Typing accents on blackberry?

I ALREADY TRIED HOLDING THE LETTER DOWN AND ROLLING THE BALL AROUND, THAT ONLY CAPITALIZES OR DECAPITALIZES IT. ANY OTHER THINGS I COULD TRY?

No, that is how you add accents. Now it depends on the letter that is being used. Like on my Curve 8320 the letter x only capitalizes when I hold it and roll the ball up and down. However, the letters e and a will get accents.
