Tyre size conversion?

Is 700 x 32 the same as 27 x 1 1/4? The first is metric, the second imperial.

  1. They are not at all the same size.  A 700C tire is not interchangeable with a 27" tire in any way, shape or form.

    You may want to read the following article on tire and rim sizes by the late, great Sheldon Brown:

    You'll note from the article, a 700C tire is 622mm.  While a 27" tire is 630mm.
