Tyrur Ji Sung claims top spot in A1 race at Romford
In the world of greyhound racing, every racer wants to be number one. Those who get to experience the taste of victory bask in the spotlight, while the competition reels in defeat. Every
400m race held at the Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium in Romford sees a variety of champions finishing in fine form to earn the elusive victory.
Tyrur Ji Sung (7-2) had the opportunity to notch a win during the exciting race meeting held on Wednesday, 21 October. He did just that as he beat out five of the sport’s top racers in
the A1 race. Despite an early pace from trap five, he bumped first, but quickly regained his form and challenged from halfway to win the race in 24.16 seconds. Brykat Breezer (5-1) moved quickly away from the pack, and led to fourth to claim second place in
24.28, which was 1½ lengths behind the winner.
Third place went to Affane Master (5-1), who moved slowly away, but ran on to finish in 24.34. He was just ¾ lengths out of the second position. Roscos Flyer (9-2) ran to a fourth-place
finish after bumping second. She missed out on a top-three finish by 1¾ lengths with her time of 24.48.
Rebel Minds, the 5-2 favourite, took fifth place after a stumbled start. He also bumped second, losing 2¼ lengths en route to a 24.66 finish. The last-place finisher was 11-4 long shot
Goonyahero, who bumped first and second to finish 2 lengths behind Rebel Minds in 24.82.
In the A2 race that followed, Nikray Reggie (4-1) emerged as the winner after an early pace from trap three. He would go on to lead third, finishing the race in 24.76. Finishing 2 lengths
behind him was 9-4 favourite Strath Beag. He moved slowly away and bumped wide, but ran on to a 24.92 finish.
Olympus Belle (5-1) claimed the number three spot in this race after bumping third. She finished a shoulder’s length behind Strath Beag, and matched his time of 24.92. Fourth place went
to Oldfield State (6-1), who moved slowly away and baulked third. She completed the race in 25.04, which placed her 1½ lengths out of the top three.
After moving slowly away from the pack, Faoi Bru (4-1) bumped first, and wound up with a fifth-place finish. His time of 25.08 was a ½ length out of fourth-place contention. Finally, Dangerous
Daniel brought up the rear after bumping at the first bend and baulking third. He lost 2½ lengths in the process, finishing the race in 25.28.
Coral Romford Greyhound Stadium will be the site of more great races on Friday, 22 October. The first race is slated to get under way at 19:30.
