Question:

Tyson, Lewis, Bowe and Holyfield (era) vs Klitschko?

I think everybody knows that many if not all the champs in the Ali/Frazier/Foreman etc... era would beat Klitschko.....

But I think I'll take it a step further and say......, I believe that the four champs the past era (Tyson, Lewis, Bowe and Holyfield... in their primes) would ALSO beat Klitschko.... Agree? Disagree? If not, who wouldn't beat him?

  1. No doubt that Tyson, Lewis, Holyfield, and depending which Bowe showed up would beat Klitschko.  He just has not had that Gut check fight yet, I don't know about him.

  2. There is nothing to agree or dissagree with...its a fact...all four in their primes would beat Klitschko.

  3. lewis is not even a power-puncher. Even buster douglas, frank bruno and plinkton thomas will have a field day with this klitschkos combined. This guys really make todays boxing like a grammar subject, B.O.R.I.N.G

  4. I don't even class Klitschko as a fighter. He is the worst heavyweight champion of all time.

Totally agree with you on those boxers because they can fight.

  5. Let me start by saying I am not a huge Klitschko fan but give him his props people.  He does train hard, he has the "look" of a heavyweight champion (unlike Ibragimov or Valuev or Tim Witherspoon or Tony Tubbs) and he conducts himself with class.  I dont think it would be the worst thing in the world to see Wlad unify the belts.  As for the worst heavyweight champ ever, I still think it was James Bonecrusher Smith who was lucky to knock out a cold Witherspoon in late 1986 and then fall apart a few months later against a 20 year old Iron Mike Tyson.

  6. I would pick any of the 4 to beat Wlad, but each fight would be interesting - styles make fights, etc.

I think a prime Tyson would catch him early, he was quick and his head movement would have penatrated Klitschko's long jab.  If he didn't and it went to the later rounds, I think he would still be busier, and I don't think he could stand up to Tyson's brutal shots.

I think Holyfield would take an easy decision from him, Klitschko simply could not keep up with the work rate.  As physically imposing as he seems, he is just too big for his own good, carrying that type of size around in a busy fight always breaks him - if he could stand up for all 12 without collapsing from fatigue, he'd find himself on the losing end of a decision.

I think Lennox would have the most difficult time, not because he is the least skilled, but because his chin makes any fight against a big puncher a wild card.  If it didn't look like Lewis vs. Golata, it could be just a question of who gets caught first.  I'd still bet on Lennox to either KO inside of 5 or win a boring decision.

A prime Bowe would destroy Klitschko - this is where styles come in - at his best Bowe did everything better than Wlad, including take a punch.  He'd outbox him from the start and KO him inside of 4 rounds - Bowe certainly wasn't the best of the 4, but his style and strengths would make Klitschko a walk in the park.

  7. tyson easily beats klitschko, and could today if he WANTED to actually train and win.

holyfield, it would prob go the distance and holyfield would get the decision. could go either way.

the riddick bowe that beat holyfield the first time, yes, knocks dr. steelhammer klitschko the heck out. the holyfield 2 years later , doesnt.

lewis, well...the other klitschko was whooping his butt until the fight got stopped due to a cut just a couple of years ago......

  8. Agree.

  9. I agree.

I also know that many of the underdog, non-champ, less remembered fighters from the Ali generation like Jerry Quarry, John Tate,  George Chuvalo, Archie Moore, Ron Lyle and many others could knock Klitschko out. Klitschko is a very overrated, bad fighter. He only wins because he has a size advantage over most of his fighters. I can't believe that he's getting money for this.

I would still like to see Klitschko fight Ruslan Chagaev (the guy how beat N. Valuev for the WBA Heavyweight Championship. Ruslan had some success against the much larger Valuev and I think it might actually work against Klitschko.

  10. Agree.

A Klitchko fan posted a link to the Klitchko brothers (yes, brothers!) website on another question and the bloody stupid stiff (Wlad, that is) has posted footage of his latest fight there, as if he's proud of it!!! WHAT was he doing with his left hand throughout the fight???!!! That wasn't even a jab!!! He was just pawing at his opponents (sorry I forgot his name!!) gloves and arms to try to stop him throwing his own almost as pathetic jab and occasional straight right. Any decent heavyweight from the past would have either walked right through Klitchko's pathetic, pawing jab, or ducked underneath it, and knocked him out with one good left hook (or any punch of their choice). Klitchko's height wouldn't be any advantage - he doesn't look balanced physically and looks as though he would go down to any good punch - no wonder he fights like he's scared all the time. I have no doubt that Tyson would have KO'd him in 1 round and the others you list would also have beaten him.

  11. Tyson would eat those jabs for breakfast, and then sit down to a rib dinner.  Wlad's body would be mush after a fight with Iron Mike, and he'd wonder how many men were in the ring with him.

Lennox almost got his chance in Ocean's Eleven to do what we all know he could have done.  Plant Wlad in the fifth row.

Riddick would do the same thing that Lamon Brewster did to Wlad in their first fight, only he'd do it sooner.

Holyfield. . . now that's a tough one.  I've never been as impressed with MR. EVAN FIELDS (his steroid-purchasing name) as the rest of the world seems to be.  He used his "third glove" way too often (his bald head), he clinced almost as often as Ruiz does today, and his "heart condition" really put me off for a while.  No one can discount his heart and determination, but I don't see him getting past the giant jab of big Wlad.

Of the guys from that era. . . . .I'd most like to see Wlad fight Golota.  And what's cool, is that we might actually get to see that fight, if Golota keeps winning like he's been doing.  First he knocked out Giant Kevin McBride, and then he easily beat Mike Mollo, who had been impressive in all his previous fights.  I'd love to see the two big men fight. . . . .Wlad vs Golota. . . .let's see it. . .let's see it!!!

  12. Yes Klitschko would get kod he was facing three powerpunchers (Tyson,Bowe,Lewis) and someone that would be all over him like a rash for full 12 rounds (Holyfield)

also Michael Moorer would have beaten him.

  13. i agree that tyson, lewis, bowe & especially holyfield would beat klitschko.

baer, schmelling, walcott & fitzsimmons would also beat him.

it might be feasable to match him with the titleholders of the '80s like pinklon thomas, trevor berbick & john tate....the only reason he's more consistant is because he's almost always in better shape.

  14. I agree all 4 in their primes would win! The fighter who might have the most difficult time would be Tyson. The reason I say this is because Tyson always had difficulty with bigger fighters who could jab/box  and keep their distance. Klitschko is what we would call a "Super Heavyweight" as is Lewis and Bowe. His suspect chin and heart is what would doom him in all 4 bouts!... Tyson by KO in 3rd, Lewis by TKO in The10th, Bowe by KO in The 7th, Holyfield by KO in The 8th!
