Tyson Better then dempsey Because? ?

These are completely two different eras of boxing. if you put Dempsey in the 80's with the technology and training he would be a different fighter. If you put Tyson in the 20's with the lack of technology and training he would be a different fighter as well. Tyson had more skill. but look at the fights in Dempseys era. All the fighters did was throw big punches, swinging wildly, throwing haymakers etc. very seldom throwing combinations.

Everything Dempsey could do. Tyson did it better, bob n weave, excellent head movement, a quick jab, wicked combos, Power in either hand and a granite jaw.  He was faster then Dempsey,Stronger then Dempsey,punched much harder then Dempsey and was naturally bigger by about 20 to 30 lbs of solid muscle.

Kevin Rooney and Mike Tyson had an unbeatable system of letter number combination that Rooney could yell and Tyson would throw the corresponding punch or proper defensive move. If Rooney could see the opponents right hand was low he could yell B2 and Tyson would know to throw a left hook on instinct.

Other then Lewis or Holyfield and even they would have a much harder time with Tyson and Rooney together. If they had of stayed together I could easily imagine Tyson gong undefeated his entire career.

Through out history the guys that would give Tyson trouble would be Ali,Holyfieild,Lewis,Louis and Holmes.

Mike Tyson is certainly by far the most devastatingly powerful fastest greatest brawler Type boxer there ever was. But the best boxers of all time give him trouble when they have the intelligence of Lewis, The counter punching ability, heart,chin and game plan strategy of Holyfield, The quickness,power and foot movement of Joe Louis. And Muhammad Ali who has everyone of those skills and a little more.

All those guys give Mike trouble because they would not be deterred, would not be intimidated and would back Mike up and avoid his shots, tie him up when he gets inside,lean on him, push him off and repeat is the strategy that all these guys would have used and did use.

I don't know if you could fight Tyson any other way.

The one thing Dempsey did have over Tyson was stamina, but If he met Tyson in the ring stamina would not have time to become a factor in the fight.

Tyson's modern boxing skills, moving. punching etc look better than desmpeys but I give the dempsey the win for two reasons.

Firstly most people forget is tyson was a 'slump era' champion.

The 80's had only half the competing heavyweights the early 70's had and less than 1/4 demspeys era.

As good as someone 'looks' they as likely to be only  middleranks in a comp 4 times larger.

Secondly the old boxers were still training wrestling, a left over from bareknuckle days when there was a lot more clinching and parrying.

No boxer has had to train like that in nearly 100 years. It is a totally different sort of fitness and genetics to be good at.

If the old guys switch to their messy tie ups and roughhousing,  our guys are not going to have the specific strength to get a good punch away. And they will be armweary within a three rounds just trying.

That's a fact. Take it from a heavyweight who cross trains with greco guys in MMA.
