Tyson Chandler says Lithuanian game helped expose ‘bad habits’ of Team USA – NBA News
The U.S.A basketball team saw their first test of the London Olympics when they were taken to the edge by Lithuania. The Americans trailed the Lithuanian side in the final period and had it not been for an extraordinary final period
by LeBron James, they would have been looking at their first defeat of the tournament.
The U.S side were ice cold from the three point range and seemed a bit rusty when running down the court, but their biggest failure on that night was their defence.
And U.S.A starting centre Tyson Chandler admitted that while talking to ProBasketballTalk. Chandler was present at the Gillette Lounge in the Proctor & Gamble family home in London. He said:
“We had a down night. We got beat off the dribble way too much, and our execution was poor defensively, and our communication was poor. So it was one of those nights and we struggled offensively but we got to learn with a victory.”
“We played a couple of games where we were able to jump all over the passing lanes and a little bit of bad habits creep in. And then you play a game like Lithuania and those bad habits are exposed,” he added.
Chandler has been running into foul trouble quite frequently over the course of the first few games here in London, as he gets used to FIBA officiating. However, the big says that he knows he is representing his country on the
court and ensures that no untoward incident takes place that might cause damage to the reputation of his country.
Chandler and the U.S team will feel good about the fact that they were tested by Lithuania, as they now enter a crucial stage in the tournament. They will face Argentina in their next game tonight and will then move into the second
round of the tournament, where the stakes will be higher and the competition will be much tougher.
Chandler says that the team has learnt from the Lithuanian game is will be making the necessary adjustments in the upcoming games.
