Tyson Fury: I can beat Alexander Povetkin but will first go for the European title - Boxing News
Tyson Fury, the current Irish heavyweight champion, who recently collected an impressive fifth round technical knockout win over Martin Rogan, is now eyeballing the European title and recently commented that he is ready to take on even Alexander Povetkin,
the current WBA champion, but will do so after grabbing the left over regional titles.
Tyson entered the ring on April 14, 2012 and collided with to determine as to who will grab the vacant Irish heavyweight gold. Fury was the one who emerged victorious in the 12-round extravaganza by knocking Briton’s sense out in just the fifth round.
In a recent interview, the owner of the Commonwealth and British heavyweight title, Tyson said that he is ready to take on any opponent even now, immediately after his Martin-bout.
The Britain number one informed that he went in the ring against Rogan to try and experiment various new strategies adding that he is an orthodox but fought with a left hand and is now capable enough to throw the same raw power jab from his left as well
as the right hand.
Tyson commented, “We’ve been trying different things. We worked out a game plan for Martin Rogan and he looked like the type of person we could try it on.”
Fury’s promoter, Mick Hennessy, while sharing his thoughts about his man said that he can annihilate Alexander easily and is in his prime form to take on almost any man in the division. Mick revealed that before taking on the WBA champion, Tyson will first
strive to grab the European gold so as to engrave his name on all the apex divisional titles in the region.
Hennessy remarked, “He would beat Povetkin tomorrow. Let’s be real. He would wipe the floor with Povetkin. That fight’s not going to happen any time soon because Povetkin’s the champion and it would end up being in Germany. He’s the biggest star in heavyweight
boxing behind the Klitschkos. There is so much more to come from him. He’s in incredible shape. He can go all the way. He can be world champion whenever he wants.”
Tyson has been in a total 18 bouts and boasts an undefeated resume with 13 wins via knockout. He has collected wins over many big names and is duly denoted as the future number one contender for any of the Ukrainian Klitschko brothers.
