Tyson Fury: I can use both my hands equally with a southpaw stance – Boxing News
Tyson Fury, the current Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight champion and the holder of many other titles has decided to permanently shift himself to the southpaw stance and commented that he wants to bring a change in his brawling style which will
help him use both his hands equally and optimally.
Fury, 23, is a young surging Britain who has achieved much at a very young age and boasts an undefeated win streak in a total 18 bouts. He has nailed a huge 13 of his total opponents by knockout and caught media’s attention by a unique feat that he performed
against Martin Rogan.
Tyson, who basically follows an orthodox right-hand stance, shocked the world by taking on Martin with a southpaw stance. During the whole bout, Tyson not only made himself and his promoter Mick Hennessy proud but also proved that he did work hard in shifting
himself to the southpaw stance.
After collecting a fifth round knockout win over Martin, Fury commented that he did do so to make himself strong in order to take on men such as the Klitschko brothers and Alexander Povetkin.
Tyson revealed that he and his whole squad underwent special training to achieve command over the altogether different and opposite stance and added that it was a difficult task in fact a strenuous one and took much time to be perfected.
In a recent interview, Tyson, who also boasts a unanimous decision win over Dereck Chisora, shared his views about changing the stance and commented, “I’ve been getting caught a lot in the past, leaning in with the jab and dropping it. So I thought to myself,
for a change, I’m going to go around southpaw, keep my left hand up and I can’t get hit with an overhand right, because I’m (moving) away from his right.”
Tyson is currently eyeballing Alexander, the owner of the WBA world heavyweight champion, but before that as per the instructions of his promoter he has first decided to engrave his name on all the regional heavyweight titles.
It is this reason why Tyson will now go for the European heavyweight gold and will try to grasp it and add it to his recently acquired Irish heavyweight and BBBC British heavyweight titles.
