Tyson Keats to appear before SANZAR for his tackle on Alby Mathewson - Rugby news
Hurricanes’ Tyson Keats has been cited for his tip-tackle on the Blues scrum half, Alby Mathewson. The incident took place during the 63rd minute of the game between Blues and Hurricanes on Friday, May 6 at Wellington’s Westpac Stadium.
Earlier today, May 7th, Tyson Keats had been called in for a judicial hearing by SANZAR officials for his dangerous tackle during Friday’s game, which Blues won over the Hurricanes 17 – 11. Keats will face a SANZAR Judicial Hearing on Monday for
the tackle on Mathewson.
Tyson Keats took the field by substituting in for Chris Eaton during the 61st minute of the game. He was shown a yellow card during the 63rd minute of the game for his tip tackle on the Blues scrum half. Blues capitalised on the Hurricanes
lose because they were playing a man down, as they scored the defining eight points in four minutes time to register their ninth win in the season.
For Blues, their winger Lachie Munro scored on the penalty during the 63rd minute of the game followed by their scrum half Alby Mathewson 66th minute try.
Before Keats departure, the Blues were trailing by two points thanks to their error ridden performance in the match. The Hurricanes were set for another upset following their last weekend shocking win against the super xv leaders Reds.
After the match, Mathewson confirmed injury to his head. However, he has turned down the notion that the Keats has purposefully done so. He said, “Halfbacks are quite low so it's easy to get underneath a player. It's not that hard to lift a 100 kilo guy
so there is no malice in it."
Keats can consider the game as his poorest in his season as he failed to score on the try during the ending moments of the game that would allow the Hurricanes to win the game.
Speaking about the incident Hurricanes coach Mark Hammett announced that Keats have apologized to his team for his tackle that resulted in costing the team a game.
