  1. Probably Ali, a.k.a. Cassius Clay would have won, as he did against another ruthless puncher, "Sonny Liston."  Tyson avoided trouble by storming his opponents and by not getting hit.  But once he got complacent, e.g., against Buster Douglas he showed that while his fists were steel, his jaw did have some glass in it.  Down and out he went, never again to be the same fighter.

  2. who can say

  3. Ali has always been considered one of the all-time greats, and even if someone is definitely better than him, people and boxing critics are never going to admit it.

  4. i believe tyson in his prime can knock out ali in his prime.. because tyson was just so fast and had most powerful punch in boxing history. and in tyson's prime nobody could beat him.. but when his trainer changed and involved with don king he's life began to change and it became miserable.

  5. Are you Kidding me , Ali would win by KO and further more the top5 boxers in Ali's era would have KO'D Tyson as well.

  6. I'm not sure who would have won, but I sure would have rooted for ALI!!!  Tyson is a NUT!

  7. Ali would beat Tyson today, from his wheel chair.  They were two totally different classes of fighter.  Mike would have lost to the B rated fighters of Ali's day, and the A level Guys like Liston, Forman, Frazier and Norton would have beaten Mike with ease. Ali would have destroyed Mike faster than Holyfield did.

  8. Ali would "rope-a-dope" him.

  9. To those that say Tyson would KO Ali, can you explain how that would be possible when 4 of the other great punchers in the history of the division never came close!!! As it was mention here before, Liston, Foreman, Frazier and Shavers didn't get it done. Only Frazier even knocked him down. He got right up! When he fought Foreman, Foreman came into the fight KOing his last 8 opponents inside of 2 rounds. Ali just let George hit him. Then knocked George out!

Then there is the other side of this question, just who did Mike KO? Who did he beat that was so great? Truth is he never Ko'd a great fighter in their prime! He got Ko'd by Buster Douglas when he was in his prime..24! He did'nt train well but that was still his prime! Ali never was Ko'd until he got old and another great fighter did it, Holmes and even then he wasn't KO'd. His trainer Angelo Dundee stopped the fight.

Mike was great until the immortal Buster Douglas proved it all to be an illusion. Mike was great beating a bunch of tomato cans. He was destroyed by Holyfield 2x and Lewis. Yet some people still think he was great. I'd love to know why? Or can someone base it on something substantial?

This isn't a question, Ali by Ko! If it took Buster 9rds, it would only take Ali 5 or 6!

  10. Tyson for sure.

No one couldve lived with this guy in his prime. Foreman said that Tyson had his power and Ali's speed.

Ali never fought anyone with this combination. There was no escape from Tyson's attack at his peak!! and considering Henry Cooper knocked Ali down, I am convinced Tyson's punch(es) wouldve kept him down.

    KO in first few rounds.

  11. Ali beat Patterson, Liston, Frazier, Foreman and Shavers. The middle 3 are all time greats! He lost to Holmes but he was 38 yrs old. Way past the "prime yrs"

Tyson has one win against an all time great Holmes but he was 38. Way past his prime. He has 2 losses to Holyfield and and one loss to Lewis. Both are great fighters and the fights weren't close. He also has a loss to Buster Douglas. A mediocre fighter at best. Mike was 24. If that isn't your prime, what is?

As far as the fight goes, Ali never used the rope-a-dope in his prime. That wouldn't be an issue. The young Ali danced and moved like a much lighter man. His jab, foot work and straight right was much better than Busters. His jaw was great, Liston, Foreman, Williams, Lyle, Shavers never even knocked him down. Frazier did, but he was up at the count of 2 or 3.

This isn't much of a contest. One man is a legend. The other is a myth!

  12. C'mon, we've DONE this one a Trillion times.  Ali would NOT use rope-a-dope as it only works once on a guy like George Forman.  Ali would s***w up Tyson's game plan before the first bell.

Tyson hits harder and faster than Frazier.  However,  he doesnt have Frazier's stamina or indominable will.  As the fight progresses Tyson's sense of doubt would grow to a point where he's reduced to throwing one punch at a time.

Ali would take him apart in the late rounds.  An opponent of that magnitude always brought out the best in Ali.

See my other posts on this topic.  My fingers dont want to do this one again for the fifth or sixth time.

    Ali by TKO in 13

  13. Muhammad Ali would win for sure.

  14. Ali.  No contest.

    Nuff said.

  15. No contest. Ali, all the way.
