alot of you people that praise bums like klitsko and lennox lewis and claim they would have beaten a prime mike tyson must not remember the prime mike tyson at one time tyson was faster used combinations bobbed and weaved crouched in like rocky marciano or joe frazier and had a cast iron chin plus a descent jab and throw in the rest with sonny liston punching power when tyson was in good shape properly trained and his mind was right he would have beat all of them by ko

  1. I really think Tyson in his Prime was probably the most overrated athlete ever. He had great skills but having great Skill dosent always make you a great fighter. Tyson fought in the late 1980's which after Larry Holmes Retired was the worst heavyweight era its ever been seen probably right now. Mike is a fun guy to watch but Tyson in his prime wasn't this indestructible force that the media made him out to be. When Tyson fought Evander Holifield Both guys were just enough past their prime where the fight was competitive. I hear so many people Talk about how Tyson in his prime would have Killed this guy or that guy. Lewis and Holifield were great champions both guys were boxers and both guys could change their style to be the opponent. Tyson was good but he was extremely one dimisonal he was fast and power full. But once he stepped up in competition or met someone who wasn't scared of him he was exposed. If Buster Douglas could outbox a prime Tyson so could evander Holified watch the second Bowe fight and then say Evander can box. Lewis had a great Jab and would have outboxed Tyson in his prime too.

  2. Tyson got Ko'd at 24 years old by Douglas. That is your prime! And when he fought Holyfield and Lewis, both of them were older than Tyson.

Tyson destroyed weaker fighters. He never beat a high quality opponent, while they were in there prime.

To say "Tyson would have beaten, (fill in the blank) when he was properly trained and in shape" is pure speculation. Bottom line is he didn't! And he lost to inferior fighters!

    Thumbs up to bignorme!

  3. Well let's check the facts on Mr. Tyson

    He was born in 1966

    Holyfield was born in 1962

    Lewis was born in 1965

So he is younger than two of the men who defeated him in his career.

He was 30 when he fought Holyfield the first time aqnd Holyfield 34 and was soundly defeated.

He was 36 when he fought Lewis in 2002 and Lewis was 37 so you could argue that Lewis wasn't in his prime either.

When he was soundly defeated and knocked out by Buster Douglas, he was 24 and in his prime.

Who was the best fighter that Tyson ever beat?  Tony Tucker or maybe Razor Ruddock?  He did at one time look to be unbeatable, but those guys proved that it just was not true.

  4. thumbs up to bignormen and cjt0912
