Tytan AZS CZESTOCHOWA wins first round of Polish derby by 3-1 – Volleyball news
A match of the first round of the Polish derby took place on March 27.
The Polish city of Warsaw was playing host to the competition. The two teams that played against each other in the match were the home team of Politechnika WARSZAWSKA as well as the squad of Tytan AZS CZESTOCHOWA.
The Polish derby is the final stage of the 2012 CEV Volleyball Challenge Cup- Men. The venue of the competition was the Arena Ursynow which was filled with a total of 2,000 spectators.
The match took four long and thrilling sets to reach its close that kept the spectators entertained throughout. The first set of the match was the most competitive but the two sides put up impressive performances both in the second as well as the third sets
of the match. The fourth set of the game leaned towards the Tytan from the start and it was them who were able to claim victory in the end.
The scoreboard showed the following final set scores of 26-24, 23-25, 27-25 and 25-20.
The first set of the match saw both the sides come out strong against each other. No team was letting the other take the lead for a long time as a result of which the opening set saw several lead changes. No one was sure where the tables would turn till
the final stages of the frame. The home team was leading in the opening frame at 10-9, an advantage that they were able to stretch till 14-10. Before long, Tytan was able to make the match reach a tie at 19-19. The set proceeded in a competitive manner till
the point where Tytan bagged it at 26-24.
 The start of the second set saw the guests take the lead at 5-3 but the match reached a tie at 6-6. The first technical time out saw the home team take the lead at 8-6. The home side stayed dominant throughout after that point which enabled them to win
the second frame at 23-25.
Unfortunately for the home team, the second frame was the only one that they could secure as Tytan bagged the third and fourth at 27-25 and 25-20 respectively.
