Tzu-Chi Lin fails to defend title Florida’s Natural Charity Classic 2012
Tzu-Chi Lin, who was seeking to defend her title at the Florida’s Natural Charity Classic 2012 held this week, faced a big let-down when she saw lesser-known rivals grab the top three spots.
Lin of Taiwan was confident enough to set foot on the course of the Lake Region Yacht and Country Club, but finished the tournament tied for the fourth position.
Due to her stunning performance in the last edition of the tournament, Lin grabbed much of the attention on course.
She carded an overall 213 — a decent score. However, she made some lousy strokes on some holes, taking a toll on her hard-earned position.
She could not open the first round according to her plans, as she parred all the holes on the front nine. However, she improved her game on the back nine, with an impressive birdie on par-5 13th hole.
Although Lin carded a bogey on the 11th, scoring 4 much-needed birdies helped her bounce back in the game.
She reeled off 3 straight birdies on the par-4 16th, par-3 17th and par-5 18th, brining her overall score to a 70 for the day.
Despite displaying a worse-than-expected performance in the first two rounds, Lin forged ahead in the final round by making calculated putts on most of the holes.
The Taiwanese star kicked off the day by parring the first round, but faltered on the par-4 second hole, recording a bogey.
She picked up pace and stunned her fans by reeling off a birdie on the difficult par-3 third hole.
Lin planned to come off well in the third round, but faced some disappointments because she carded 3 bogeys.
Her score on the front nine was a 38. Determined to atone for her lapses in the early rounds, she worked hard on the back nine, draining 3 birdies.
She carded an overall 71 on the back nine, improving her position on the leaderboard.
Lin was more than thrilled last year, as she cheered her fans by exhibiting stellar performance. She pocketed $110,000 for her triumph. She came off well and carded a massive 10-under 206.
Megan McChrystal of the United Sates won the current event by recording a total 5-under 216.
