U-18 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Championship starts today in Riga – Volleyball News
The Eastern European Volleyball Zonal Association (EEVZA) is scheduled to organise an exciting beach volleyball competition for aspiring young boys and girls from June 19-21.
Latvia’s capital city Riga is set to host the wonderful action of double-gender beach volleyball competition, which will complete its length over a period of three days. A total of 19 pairs (11 boys’ and 8 girls’) will be on board to showcase their amazing
game tactics. This is the first double-gender competition that is going to be featured on the 2012 EEVZA Beach Volleyball Calendar.
In the boys’ section, duos from Russia, Lithuania, hosts Latvia, and Estonia will come into stride. The host country Latvia will be playing with six tandems which include Austris Bukovskis/ Roberts Veins, Māris Lancmnais/ Raimonds Liniņš, Artūrs Beiša/ Edgars
Potašovs, Pāvels Jemeļjanovs/ Artūrs Soboļevs, Reinis Grīnbergs/ Reinis Prīdāns, and Vlads Smirnovs/ Ričards Ziediņš.
Likewise, three duos from Russia and one each from Lithuania and Estonia are supposed to join the competition. The home tandems will have the competitive advantage of playing under familiar conditions. Nonetheless, hard work will be the key of success for
any team in the competition.
On the other hand, four female pairs from Latvia will try to delight the home audience. Inga Mauriņa/ Paula Zirģele, Anete Briņķe/ Linda Jakobsone, Monta Strazdiņa/Anete Pastare, and Rūta Treija/ Tīna Graudiņa will be playing under the tag of hosts in the
girls’ division. They will be joined by two duos from Russia and one tandem each from Estonia and Lithuania.
Speaking of the event, the Secretary General of the Latvian Volleyball Federation Egils Cirulis said, “We are always very happy to get the chance to host young players in our country. The EEVZA U18 Championship is an extremely useful challenge for young
players who are just about to start their career in Beach Volleyball. We have been doing our best to prepare for this event and we hope to see many great and exciting matches as the competition runs here in Riga through this coming Thursday”.
The Latvian Volleyball Federation is optimistic about the success of this event and hopes to receive good number fans.
