Remember when the series got people opening 'antique' stores...mainly car-boot sales under a roof, from towns and cities from, say, Norwich, with a line south-west to Penzance, with mindless 'middle-class' dears opening up stores, thinking they'd be as 's**y' as Ian McShane ?

What about fish 'n' chip shops in Northern Ireland - near where my sis lives, not far from the Connswater shopping centre in East Belfast is one called 'For Cod and Ulster'. Throughout the Six Counties, there are variations on the same words in other chippies.

Last but not least, is a classic (but I bet it's not used, due to copyright laws). Anyone see Peter Kay's Max & Paddy episode, when they were sold a 'prize rare breed' gammy pig, with them trying everywhere to sell it, ending up in a Asian butchers. Max - complete with his Pakistani cricket shirt on was chased out within an inch of his life. Oh yes...the name of the butchers? 'You Can Call me Halal' - is there one of those anywhere?

  1. lol!! Hiya native. Not seen you in ages! know what you mean about programmes that get people starting up businesses with same name. You know how people follow fashions. The 'For cod and Ulster' one got me laughing my briefs off!!, you can blame Doctor Ian Paisley for that one, and he looks nothing like lovejoy!
