    1. The US uses about 19,000 metric tons of natural uranium every year to power 104 nuclear reactors producing 780 billion kilowatt hours of clean electricity annually.

    2. The US energy mix consists of 19% nuclear electricity.

    If the US wants to get serious about reucing its contribution to carbon dioxide and toxic waste emissions, then it will have to reduce its dependency on coal and foreign oil, and build more nukes.  Seven more nuclear plants are in the planning stage, so its a good start.
