  1. Bio-diesel is not the answer. Bio-diesel fuel pollutes the air with carbon dioxide just like regular diesel, even if in smaller amounts. Also, transitioning to a bio-diesel based economy would require dedicating huge tracts of land specifically to farming for bio-diesel. This will cause food production to fall  (as the population of the world increases, more land will be needed for food; but that land will be taken up by biofuel farms; this means more people, but less food). It would solve the problem only temporarily, and create a new problem: famine.

The answer is in renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, water, and geothermal-based solutions. The sun in particular produces unimaginable amounts of energy which humanity has not even begun to tap.

As for vehicles and transportation, we should transition either to electric cars or extremely efficient gasoline-charged hybrids. I am talking about cars that would get 80 miles to the gallon and reduce pollution and gasoline consumption to virtually nothing compared to now. Forget about hydrogen fuel cells; they aren't feasible, and primarily serve as a research distraction for oil companies to "pursue" so they can prolong the economic lifespan of fossil fuels.

These solutions are well within the realm of possibility. If we can land on the moon, we can end our dependence on outdated fossil fuels.

  2. Sure, we should be using bio-diesel like Willie Nelson and Neil Young.

So many things going on in the world,

    Babies dying, mothers crying.

Just how much oil is human life worth?

And whatever happened to peace on earth?

  3. Ray Kurzweil, inventor and futurists, thinks it will take 20 years.  he uses the "law of accelerating returns."  This is the same model that has accurately shown and predicted computing memory doubling about every 18 months.

The gist in this theory's application is that we are approaching the 1 percent baseline that will start doubling nearly every year as far as electricity from solar.  I hope he is right.  However going nuclear in the mean time would be a prudent course.

Bio diesel is great, if you don't mind millions starving to death because you need fuel instead of their food.

  5. Hello bicycle

  6. SAY GOOD BYE like when u mother dies!(biodiesel=spermicide,u need not much,u sperm is bad)

  7. solar all the way, baby! Can't use biofuels because they take up too much arable land we need to grow crops to feed ourselves. Nuclear power is too scary for most people. Wind or solar is our ticket out. But, really, why give up oil? We're already in the middle east and have troops occupying an oil-rich country. Why don't we just take their oil? solves our problems for decades!
