U.S Citizen dual national U.K wants to join fire department

I want to join fire department in U.S. I have a conviction in the U.K for ABH. Got community service and fine.1st offence, This is a unique situation as already am a U.S citizen. I am at the stage with 2 departments when they are asking for background checks.Any advice?

ABH = Actual Bodily Harm, or assault basically.

I would be surprised if they ran a UK records check, its too much effort.

You'll probably be fine.

Let them run a check and see what happens.  At most they'll say no, if it comes up.

What is ABH?  I'm not familiar.

Most departments I looked at before I got into Engineering said that prior offenses were forgivable, but lying on the application was not.
