U.S. Citizens living in Spain?

I am a u.s. citizen currently living in Spain and just relized that my passport expired June 5th .. I am going to the U.S. Consolate in Barcelona, But i Need to know if anyone has gone thru this .. I mean , I was expecting to pay the 52.00 euros but now since looking at the expiration date, I have no clue on what to do.. Help! Any Advice...

  1. I had a friend that lived in Spain for two years...I'd wait to have your passport renewed until you're ready to go...otherwise they might tell you to leave (unless you have a Visa).  Otherwise, the US Embassy/Consulate should be reissue your passport there.

    I've a client get his passport reissued (it was lost) in CUBA by the Swiss gov't since there's no US Embassy there...so it can be done.


  2. It's only a few days past date...You should have no trouble getting it renewed...

    All you need is the proper sized passport pictures... and of course the money...

    I don't know if the consulate in Barcelona renews it directly.. Our Consular agency in Malaga sends it to Madrid and they mail it back to us.
