  1. The unification of the Iroquois Tribe by Hiawatha. They formed a Confederacy that challenged the Europeans from 1600-1780. It was originally 5 tribes(Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Oneida, and Mohawk) but in the 1720's a 6th tribe(the Tuscarora) joined. It split during the American Revolution, with the Tuscarora and Oneida siding with the Americans and the rest with the British. However, during its peak(1680's), it's territory stretched from Virginia to Montreal and out to the Mississippi River.

Here is a map of their territory.
