U.S. Team to feature in Pool C of 2011 FIVB Junior World Championship
Following the allotment of teams in respective pools by FIVB, the Men’s Junior Volleyball Team of USA is confirmed to play in the Pool C.
The 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship is set to take place in Brazil from August 1-10. The cities of Campo Grande and Rio de Janeiro will host the thrilling action of sixteen best under-20 teams of the world. The teams have been placed in four pools
as follows:

Pool A – Brazil, USA, Japan, and Bulgaria Pool B – Argentina, Tunisia, Puerto Rico, and Spain Pool C – Russia, India, Egypt, and Germany Pool D – Iran, Serbia, Canada, and Belgium
U.S. team is scheduled to compete with Brazil, Bulgaria and Japan in Pool C of the first round. The drawing of lots for the 2011 FIVB Junior World Championship was officially held in Brazilian Capital Rio de Janeiro on Saturday, June 4. The ceremony was
attended by senior officials of Federation International de Volleyball (FIVB) and South American Volleyball Confederation. Likewise, several local ambassadors, media personnel and government officials were also present at the drawing of lots.
This is the 16th edition of this biennial event as it was started in 1977. So far, Russia has most number of the medals, while Brazil comes second on the list. Brazil is also regarded as the defending champion for this edition of Junior World Championship.
They defeated Caribbean Team from Cuba in 2009, when the championship was held in Pune, India. The American Team has never climbed up the top 3 positions of the tournament. They hold ninth position at the ranking chart and it is a combined male youth and junior
ranking.
This time around, U.S. team is determined to improve the ranking. Currently, the training team roster is under focus. The training team roster contains following players:

Micah Christenson Matt West   Connor Olbright  Joshua Taylor   Maurice Torres Eric Mochalski   Scott Kevorken Dylan Davis  Grayson Overman  Jeff Ornee  Jeremy Dejno Taylor Sander  Robart Page  Brian Cook  Taylor Crabb  Steven Irvin   Jace Olsen   Michael Brinkley  Henry Cassiday
The training team of USA is mostly comprised of players, who have done well at the national level. Eleven players are from the same team, which captured gold-medal at the 2010 NORCECA men’s Junior Continental Championship. The head coach of U.S. Men’s Junior
Team, John Hawks has a lot of hard work to do.
He has been given the daunting task of leading his team to success at the upcoming international event. The U.S. team will hold its training camp in the coming month of July. The final roster of the team will feature the 12 best players.
In the light of set rules by FIVB, top two teams from each pool will advance to the next round. Finally, the top four teams will vie for the medals. Let’s see how American players confirm their ambition for victory with good performance.
