U.S. Women’s Junior Continental Team roster takes the final shape
After a careful analysis and evaluation of players’ performances, the USA Volleyball (USAV) picked out the best athletes for Women’s Junior Continental.
The news was released from the head quarters of USAV in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Thursday, June 9. A good number of volleyball players from various universities took part in the try-outs. Sifting through a long list of players, the following players made
it to the roster of U.S. Women’s Junior Continental Team.
Colby Joseph – Libero - California Deseree McCray – Middle Blocker - Columbia Jordan Reifsteck – Libero - Jacqueline Skeen – Middle Blocker – New York Regan Youngs – Outside Hitter - Alabama Amanda Baker – Middle Blocker - Neoga Ciara Brown – Settler – Fort Myers, Florida Haley Bonneval – Outside Hitter - Mandevilee Darian Dozier – Outside Hitter – Sandy Springs Kyleigh Lucia – Setter - Texas Gabriella Lutjen – Outside Hitter – New York
The U.S. Women’s Junior Volleyball Team is scheduled to train at the Tucson Convention Centre in Tucson, Ariz. The team will be supervised by head coach Blain Tendler, while Jen Fry will be attached with team as head coach. The U.S. Junior Continental Team
has a busy season ahead of them. They will be competing at U.S. High Performance Championships, which are coming up in the month of July. Moreover, they will be representing USA various other national and international event.
Last year, the U.S. Women’s Junior Continental Team did remarkably well. In the command of head coach Rob Browning, the American girls pulled off success at the biennial event of NORCECA Women’s Junior Continental Championship. The good leadership of mentor
and team work of players enabled them to enjoy authority in the competition. The final showdown brought American team in front of girls from Dominican Republic. U.S. team proved to be better and settled for gold-medal victory.
The 2010 U.S. Women’s Junior Team also qualified for the Junior Volleyball World Championship. This year, the USA Volleyball is putting the same responsibility on shoulders of head coach Blain to lead his team to success. The team will undergo extensive
training and practice in coming weeks. Blain has got to work on players’ skills, in order to prepare them for the tough competitions ahead.
The players are excited to be selected for the national team. They will start training in the next few weeks. Training camp would be necessary to help them in developing good understanding among them before the start of international competition.
