U.S. Women’s National Volleyball titled Team of the Year
The USA Volleyball made an announcement recently in which it declared the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball team as the Indoor Team of the Year.
The following statements were given by the coach of the U.S. Women’s National Team head coach, Hugh McCutcheon after his team was given the title, “We are very honored and grateful to receive this award. Every day we try to honor and respect the privilege
of representing our country, and it's nice to have those efforts recognized.”
The U.S. Women have had an impressive season this time around that made them well worthy of the honour. Out of a total of 49 matches played throughout their season, the U.S. Women team lost only 10 and won an impressive number of 39 matches in contrast.
Not only that, the performance of the U.S. Women Volleyball Team also got them into the London 2012 Olympic Games.
The U.S. Women Team did not make their fans wait for the good news, rather, they made it into the Olympics during the first qualification tournament that was held for the Games.
Over the entire season, the U.S. Women Volleyball Team has been able to bag a total of five medals. Two of these are gold and two bronze while one is a silver medal. These have been secured after playing in six different tournaments. The U.S. Women team
was able to secure the fourth position in the Montreux Volley Masters tournament that took place in Switzerland.
The U.S. Women team was able to earn the bronze medal at the X Women’s Pan American Cup that was held in the Mexican city of Juarez. The tournament took place during July 1st to July 9th. The match that the Americans lost in the semi finals of the Pan Am
Cup was played against the Dominican Republic whereas the match won for the bronze medal was competed with the Cubans.
The U.S. Women Team players also received individual honours. The Best Spiker title in the FIVB World Cup tournament was obtained by Destinee Hooker. Hooker was able to pull off an impressive percentage of 49.53 kills.
