U.S. and Argentina prepare for upcoming 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship
The 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship is just around the corner as the event is scheduled to run right after the completion of the Women’s Junior World Championship, which is currently in its semi-final stage. Women’s tournament will end on 31st
of July, while the Men’s competition will take centre stage on August 1.
The 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship will invite Under-20 teams from 16 countries of the world. The championship will complete its run from August 1-10 and the cities of Rio de Janeiro and Camp in Brazil will host the event.
With the tournament fast approaching, the participants of the Men’s Junior World Championship are undergoing tough training and practice sessions. Some of them are conducting training camps, while some are engaged in friendly matches with other teams. The
Men’s National Junior Volleyball Teams of USA, Canada and Argentina are also included on the roster of the 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship. Recently, they played two friendly matches in order to sharpen their skills and get ready for the upcoming
tough encounters.
Americans worked out good progress against both teams in the friendly tournament and bagged two consecutive victories. They defeated Canada in the first match this past Tuesday, July 26 and did the same to Argentina on the next day. USA, Argentina, and Canada
are still without any medals at the FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship.
In the upcoming edition of FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship, Team USA will be placed in Pool A. They will be accompanied by Brazil, Bulgaria and Japan. It will be a tough group as Brazil is four-time title holder of the tournament. Bulgaria holds one
gold medal, while Japan secured one silver medal in the previous years.
Argentina will open the tournament in Pool B alongside teams from Tunisia, Spain, and Puerto Rico. This is an average group, where Argentina will have a possibility to make a difference. Likewise, Canada has been allotted a place in Pool D. Iran, Serbia,
and Belgium will also join Pool D.
The 2011 FIVB Men’s Junior World Championship will have a similar competition formula to the women’s event. The tournament will be opened with a preliminary round robin. Two top teams from four pools will advance to the second round. Afterwards, the final
round will feature semi-finals, medal matches and classification matches for different positions.
The recent experience gained through friendly matches will surely be a help for USA, Argentina, and Canada in the competition. Let’s see how they take advantage of the opportunity and showcase their talents.
