U.S. citizen applying for residency in Greece. Health insurance?

Hi, I am a U.S. citizen trying to get a 1-year resident permit to stay in Greece. One of the things that I have to do is provide a certificate that verifies that I have 1 year's worth of health insurance. Does it matter what type of insurance I have - Greek or American, or some kind of international insurance policy? Any suggestions for one that is not too expensive?

Thanks!!

  1. There is usually a load of Useless procedure's to go through before you get anywhere with anything in Greece. they like making things very complicated.

I was living there for 8 years and experienced this through and through.

  2. what sort of health plan do you now have ? some of the plans in the US will carry over in another country ,(not many tough) you just have to check the fine lines on your insurance,
