  1. The answer is (d).  The U.S. has never been economically dominant.  Look at Japan; they were lightyears ahead of us in the automotive industry and still are.  Their economy is soaring right now along with China's.  Why do you think there is such an uproar with China, because they are making massive profits on manufacturing and textiles.

It's not (c) and I am 99.999999% sure of this.  The United States is called the "Land of Opportunity".  Also, poor immigrants came over here to make a living and a fortune.  This country was founded on the ordinary people being given boundless opportunities.  Look at Harry Truman who was one of the poorest guys in his time and he became President of the United States....same for Abraham Lincoln.

  2. A. Liberalism is the enemy of freedom.

  3. yea i think C is it as well. many believe this is the land of opportunity then our greatly dissapointed when they get here.

  4. yeah i think it's C too

  5. One could argue that all 4 items have left a deep imprint on the rest of the world.  You need to consider who it was who wrote the question to determine what they would think would be the correct answer.

  6. D.

  7. I think it's A. Here's why.

Russia had liberal ideas too. Russia was the first country to send a probe into space, if my knowledge's correct. Other countries had liberal ideas. The USA's boundless opportunities are what drags people to this country.

I'm about 55% sure, and 30% sure on what "liberal" means :P

  8. It's D.  The US, in its history, has not constantly dominated the world economically.  That didn't start happening until the 20th century, especially after WWI.

though a good argument could be made for "A", since liberalism predated the American Revolutionary War by a century.

Liberalism, in an academic, historical, political science context, means wanting the status quo to change.  It implies a constitution and limited government.

It does NOT mean that one likes Obama.  That's late 20th century-21st century American Liberalism.  It is an entirely different thing.

The classic liberal political theorist was John Locke, who said that man was given basic rights, including life, liberty and property.  The idea that people have rights that no government has the right to deny them is LIBERALISM.

If you say things like "liberals hate freedom" in response to a question like this, you need to turn off your radio and read a book sometime.  Sheesh.
